Trophies and Prize Money

A few people are asking about the prizes and trophies from the past few years, and in response I can tell you that we are dealing with it and very, very shortly there will be an official annoncement about it.

The Castle

The Castle men's darts team are no longer in the league, all matches against the Castle have now been altered to byes in the fixtures. Any results from matches, including 9-0 claims, will be voided and the league table will be amended at the next update.

The Castle men's team failed to send in a single result sheet and did not send their registration sheet in, as such they have no registered players and can not continue in the league. This is not a satisfactory outcome to the situation, but given the facts, it was an inevitable one.

If your team is due to play The Castle then please be aware you will not have a game. This takes effect as of today, 22nd August 2008.

*** REGISTRATION OF PLAYERS ***

Next week is the halfway point of the MENS season, and as such no more player registrations will be accepted after 12pm Wednesday 6th August. If any team tries to register a player after this date it will not be accepted, playing an unregistered player will automatically result in the game being awarded to the opponent. Below are the rules, all captains have had copies of the full rules,

6. All signed players names must be in the secretary’s possession at least 24 hrs before playing.

7. Teams are not allowed to sign new players after the midway point in the season. If a player infringes rule 6 or 7 the leg he plays in will be made void and a leg will be deducted from his teams result and awarded to the opposition as a penalty.

!!!! THIS WILL BE ENFORCED WITHOUT EXCEPTION !!!!

There are three registration sheets still outstanding, The Red Lion Dayhills Mens, Gt. Haywood Club Mens and The Castle. These must be in before 12pm Wednesday 6th August.

There is a captains meeting on Tuesday 5th August, 8pm, at the Haywood Club (upstairs).

Spittal Brook

Last night saw The Greyhound take on The Spittal Brook, the score in the match was totally irrelevant in my eyes. The manner in wich the game was played made me realise why I love playing darts. After a traumatic first few weeks for me, it was brilliant to come across a fantastic bunch of lads. The Spittal Brook team made the night, they are a very friendly and fun team to play. For the first time this season I actually played darts with a smile on my face, and for this I'd like to thank the whole of their team. I'm really looking forward to our away match against them.

RESULTS & REGISTRATION

The Castle have been deducted another point for failing to send their results in on time.

There are a two outstanding result that need to be sent to me ASAP.

The results can be emailed to me, or posted to me.


I have recieved the ladies results every week so far without any trouble,

PLEASE BE AWARE THAT THE HALFWAY POINT OF THE LADIES LEAGUE IS NEARLY HERE, YOU HAVE 7 DAYS. I Can not accept any registration of a player after this. Any players who are not registered will have their results awarded to their oponent automatically.

I would also like the captains details from the Castle.

Result Sheets

Could everyone filling out the mens result sheets please put the scores of each game down, ie 2-0, 2-1, 1-2 or 0-2. Once this is done we can put an individual league table on the website, you'll be able to see where you rank in the league and see who the top players are. Also could all teams let me know what they prefer to see happen at the end of the league, do you prefer trophies or money? Do you want a presentation night, or would you prefer better trophies/prize money? I'm trying to gauge what most people would prefer, any feedback I get the committee can take onboard. Some teams have already voiced their opinions, and surprise, surprise they are varied. This league is run by the committee for the dart players, and as such your opinion matters so please let me know any sensible suggestions. You can email me on this email dartingdonkey@aol.co.uk .



We have also started putting match reports on the website, anyone can send a report in to Alan Hartley via the website. I would like to thank Debbie Wheawall for her report on the match between The Woolpack and The Castle.

As of 8pm tonight the only league result still outstanding is The Castle's match against The Lamb & Flag. All results can be sent to me by either post or email, if you email me the results could you please still keep the original results sheets. I will need to get the original results by the last week of the league.

Team Results

First off I'd like to thank the teams who managed to get their results to me on time. There are still some teams who were late, and some results outstanding.

HAYWOOD CLUB - LATE

GREENMAN HIXON 'B' - NOT RECIEVED

As this was the first week I will make allowances, but not anymore. If any result is late YOU WILL BE DEDUCTED POINTS. I can not update the league tables and website if I haven't got the results. If you require any results sheets let me know, they can be downloaded off the website or I'll drop some off to you.

Secondly can all captains have a look round their pubs and see if you have any trophies, we need to get these back. If you have any let me know and I'll arrange to collect them.

Last of all could all mens captains please fill out the results sheets with the exact score in legs not W or L, as we are trying to get an individual league table going. For the results I've had so far I've entered 2-1 for a W and 1-2 for a L, if you want these changing let me know the correct scores.

LADIES MATCHES

Just to clear up some cunfusion, the ladies are only playing the best of 1 leg, not the best of 3 it implies in the rules. There will be little things like this that will arise over the next few weeks, but we will sort them out, just bear with us a little. Any rules that need changing/updating will be done at the next AGM, as obviously they need to be put to a vote. If anyone has any concerns or worries please dont hessitate to contact Terry or myself and we'll try to sort them out for you.

Start of the summer league

After a committee meeting last night the summer league will now be getting under way on June 25th(men) and June 26th(ladies). All teams should complete and return the registrations forms to me A.S.A.P. . All results must be recieved by myself no later than 6pm Sunday for the men and 6pm Monday for the ladies, this can be by email or post. Failure to get the results in on time will result in RULE 22 being enforced. I hope this wont happen. I would like to wish all teams good luck, except when playing the Greyhound(hehehehe),

Hi,
As you are probably aware I have been voted into the post of secetary for the Western and Trent Valley Darts League. On this blog I'll try to post some lighter notes to do with the league, along with anything official. I hope you all enjoy the forthcoming summer league, I'll probably see most of you at some point or other,
